Rights…. from the left

By littlebloke | August 27, 2008

I read this article, immediately made me queasy… I’m not going to watch this happen any more, i’ve reached my limit?

Define freedom for me friends… then define innocence.

Think about civil liberty and read this article from the gardian:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/aug/26/civilliberties.labour

and here is is from the governments own website…

http://www.commonsleader.gov.uk/output/page2461.asp

Just think, buy sending this out I could be labelled a dissenter.

This is a response, but i think more is needed… what about you people.

Love Life and Liberty

I took the first step with you believing it to be for the better
So beguiling was your confidence

I let myself intertwine, now this draught below the door and
The laden space in which I resign

Hold me like the promise that I’m hanging from
Screaming, screaming at my world

The road itself seems more weary than I have ever been
Worn with good intention by and by

I lay upon its journey when it comes at night
Just in the way that I have lain with you

I would run if I had support, start it all over
Screaming, screaming at your world

My freedom’s now a weapon furnished with a gun
Dressed in patriotic smiles

Devils brought down the skys now, how they covert our minds now
Lies, false flags, it all comes crashing down

Till we’re gripped like the promise and we are hanging on
Screaming, screaming at our world.

Yellin’ I love life and liberty
love life and liberty
I love life and a little liberty!

What a weekend…

By Dan | July 28, 2008

Talk about living a manic lifestyle!!! This band is no exception. The last three to four weeks have been very, very busy. We have all really tried to focus 100% on the new acoustic album and not waste any time which could be spent recording. Each weekend we have spent Saturday and Sunday in the studio while being at gigs both Friday and Saturday evenings and holding down all the other stuff that gets in the way like eating and sleeping.
From my point of view my parts are coming to a close. I only have four tracks left to record, two of which I am hoping to do at home, if I can get Pro Tools for Windows Vista that is!!!
I am really pleased with the way we have worked and the quality of the material we are producing. I have really tried to be tasteful with my guitar parts and only overdub harmony parts or stereo guitar tracks if it’s really necessary. I think people will be really surprised with the way in which our tunes translate to the acoustic format, I mean, listening to Ashes on the grafting lines album, its over drive all the way, but the acoustic format…its mandolin all the way!!!
Neil and Steve have been a real help for me during these last few weeks. Neil’s sense of timing and criticism of my takes is just what I need. I like to work with people who are not afraid to say “Nope that was shite you can do better”, so a big thanks to Neil for helping me and being patient with me while I try out, as Chris puts it, my Oodles of Noodles. Thanks as well to Steve for being very critical too he has a sense of melody which has been a strong guide for me and thanks for being my tape op in the week.
I now cant wait to hear all the other parts come together and then sit and have a go at mixing the whole thing!!!
Peace and love
Dan

Gig Cancelled… Again…

By thedreamingtree | July 26, 2008

After several attempts to contact and get verification of tonight’s gig at The Bear in Bridgnorth, sadly we have to announce that it is off. The band heard rumours a few weeks ago that the venue may be in difficulty, and proceeded to try and confirm that it would still happen, with no success. We were finally informed via text message last night that the gig was off, so deep apologies to anyone who was coming along to see the show. The recent track record of venues closing before the band even gets through the door is starting to get rather alarming…

Lead progress…

By Dan | July 24, 2008

Over the past few months my fellow studnet in the Dark Arts Mr Vincent Neads and I have been delving into Jazz. We have both been given our Robes from the Psycadelic Monks and are now on our journey into sound to find our inner door!!!

I have been using my new found powers in some of our new acoustic tunes which I have been recording over the past few weeks. I am sure those of your who are familiar with the likes of Robben Ford will approve of my meager efforts.

A few piccies from the day of the photoshoot

By Jim | July 14, 2008

Well we all went off for a photoshoot a few weeks back, and I brought along my camera just to blog what went on. This is what I captured…

Put your own caption on this one!

St Christopher of Buckler!

Dan explaining just how fat Jim will be if he eats any more enchiladas.

Thanks to Cafe Maxsim for the loan of the cafe garden and the rather nice food. (the latter was purchased, not loaned!)
